Their custody hearing had been heated from the moment it began, and now, with the judge’s verdict rendered, the fallout from the decision will begin on the Tuesday, July 17 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

After initially agreeing to joint custody, things took a turn for Theresa (Jen Lilley) and Brady’s (Eric Martsolf) battle for Tate after drugs were found in Theresa and JJ’s (Casey Moss) home. Theresa was convinced that Brady had planted the drugs there on the NBC soap and argued to try and convince the judge she was clean. When that failed to work, JJ stepped up and claimed the drugs were his, in an effort to help her out.

Now, the judge has decided in Theresa’s favor, and she has been granted sole custody of her son, though she was also warned that she must cease to have any contact with JJ again since the judge now believes he is using cocaine. However, being forbidden from being around Theresa will be far from the only consequence that comes as a result of the hearing.

JJ became a paramedic after his career as a detective on the police force didn’t work out, and he has finally found his purpose through his career. However, now admitting to using drugs, even though he is lying about doing so, will cost him everything, as his job winds up on the line because of the newest developments.

Meanwhile, Brady will be left suffering the consequences as well, since he will now no longer have custody of the boy he’s been taking care of for over a year. For him, it will be devastating to say goodbye to his son, who Theresa also promised he would never see again because she feels he tried to plant drugs on her.

What neither of them knows, however, is that while the drugs were a plant, it was Eve (Kassie DePaiva) and Victor (John Aniston) who are to blame. When it appeared that Deimos’ murder was going to be the very thing that did Brady in and lost him custody, his fiancée and grandfather worked together to get the drugs smuggled into JJ’s home and found by the Child Services inspector. Now, the plan backfired in a way no one expected—and everyone is facing the consequences as a result.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
