Days of Our Lives
Sonny is disturbed by a dream he has about Will on the Seot. 22, 2017 episode of "Days of Our Lives." NBC

He's days away from marrying his current boyfriend, Paul, but dreams about the first husband he tragically lost will continue haunting Sonny as his big day draws closer on the Friday, Sept. 22 episode of "Days of Our Lives."

The big day is fast approaching for both Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Paul (Christopher Sean), as well as Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abigail (Marci Miller), to say their I do's and marry on the NBC soap. However, as the wedding continues to draw near, Sonny is finding himself thinking increasingly more about the tragic end to his marriage to Will, and it has begun to affect him in disturbing ways.

Most recently, Sonny was affected when Will's father, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo), while horrifically drunk, burst in at his wedding rehearsal with Paul and called him out for everything that had gone wrong between him and Will when he left, and called him a traitor for choosing to marry Paul. Now, Sonny will also have a disturbing dream that features his late husband, and it will begin to affect him even more.

Sonny has felt guilt over how things ended for a long time, and though he's been happy with Paul, it has been hard to forget what went wrong for him and his first real true love. He and Will had been happily married for a little while when Paul came to town, and his secret past with Sonny was exposed. Furthermore, Will wound up hooking up with Paul as well before he even knew about the past with Sonny, and when the truth came out, Sonny took off for Paris, unable to cope with his husband's being unfaithful. However, he started to miss Will and was preparing to come home, but he arrived one day too late, with Will getting murdered by Ben Weston, a.k.a. the Necktie Strangler, the day before he arrived back in Salem.

Since they never got a chance to say a proper goodbye, or work things out so Will could know Sonny still loved him in the end, the guilt has been eating away at the man planning to marry again. As the wedding continues to creep up, it could begin to affect him in ways he never anticipated, and could put a halt into the wedding plans overall.

However, what Sonny doesn't know is that there is a chance something else could instead halt the plans—and it will still do with Will, though it won't be about his guilt. After the confrontation with Lucas, the drunk man saw his son again, alive and well, in the church, and had a conversation with him about his drinking habits. Lucas has assumed that in his drunken state that the Will he saw was simply a hallucination, but in fact, he could have been seeing something else instead. If Will is alive, and is preparing to reveal himself to his family and friends once again, it could mean that the wedding will have one very unexpected guest crashing it.

"Days of Our Lives" airs weekdays on NBC.
