Marlena (Deidre Hall) is thrown when John (Drake Hogestyn) comes to Leo’s (Greg Rikaart) defense on the Feb. 27, 2019 episode of “Days of Our Lives.” XJ Johnson/JPI Studios for NBC

He is keeping a secret from the woman he loves about a man he believes is another secret son he had as a younger man. Now, when John unexpectedly defends Leo’s horrendous actions against Sonny and Will, Marlena will begin to question why he seems to be on the other man’s side on the Wednesday, Feb. 27 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

As revenge for Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Will (Chandler Massey) spending Valentine’s Day together, Leo (Greg Rikaart) made good on his threat to reveal how the two almost killed him months ago and framed it as though they had attempted to murder him on purpose. Even after telling their side of the story though on the NBC soap, the Salem PD had no choice but to temporarily book the two. Naturally, Marlena (Deidre Hall) is outraged her grandson and the man he loves are both in jail, especially since they were trying to find a way to get Leo out of their lives for good. However, she’ll be shocked when John (Drake Hogestyn) strangely seems to defend the crook who is destroying their lives.

“Marlena is thrown when John comes to Leo’s defense,” spoilers reveal.

What Marlena doesn’t know is that John believes Leo is his son, a result of his past relationship with Diana (Judith Chapman). Diana swore him to secrecy, however, forcing him to keep the truth from his wife. However, while he wants Sonny and Will to be happy and free, he also feels an instinct to protect the man he believes is his own flesh and blood, which will make Marlena suspicious as to why he would feel any need to defend the drama Leo has caused.

John won’t be able to share his truth with Marlena though since Diana swore him to secrecy because she claimed she never told Leo the truth, and she was afraid of how he’d react, which means John can’t share the information with anyone lest it gets back to his “son.” However, Diana could also be taking a page out of her son’s con artist handbook and playing some games of her own.

Spoilers tease that Diana “brokers an alliance with Victor.” If she and Victor are working together on a scheme then it could mean that John being Leo’s father is a lie—one that will be used to their advantage when the time is right.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
