“Stargirl” is ending Tuesday with the Season 1 finale, but will Courtney and her team of heroes keep burning bright next year? Luckily, the fate of the DC Comics superhero show has already been decided.

Don’t worry about cancellation. “Stargirl” has been renewed for Season 2, but it won’t be on DC Universe moving forward. The new episodes will debut on The CW, which has been airing Season 1 on Tuesdays, a full day after DC Universe starts streaming them.

Star Brec Bassinger, who plays Stargirl/Courtney Whitmore, “I seriously love each and every person attached to this project and can’t believe we get to do it all again. Thank you Geoff, Thank you @thecw , Thank you God,” she wrote on Instagram when the news was announced in July.

“Stargirl” is doing well for a summer show on The CW, Variety reports, with ratings on par with that of a fall show. Episodes have been averaging 1 million viewers in the live plus same day ratings. The live plus three-day ratings rose to 1.5 million with 0.4 in the 18-49 demographic.

Fans shouldn’t expect “Stargirl” Season 2 for a while though. The CW is delaying most of its fall lineup until at least winter. The earliest fans might see the second season of “Stargirl” would likely be next summer, but at this point, a start date seems like it’s still up in the air.

No details have been confirmed about “Stargirl” Season 2, but it seems as though an Arrowverse crossover is more likely now that Courtney’s permanent home is the same network that airs “The Flash,” “Batwoman” and others. Technically, “Stargirl” takes place on a different Earth, but that certainly hasn’t stopped other crossovers before.

The “Stargirl” Season 1 finale is available on DC Universe now. The finale airs Tuesday on The CW.
