Marvel audiences met Colleen Wing this weekend in “Iron Fist” on Netflix, and they’ll see even more of her in “The Defenders” later this year. The mini series will introduce Colleen to Misty Knight, but they might not have the same connection they did in the comics.

In the Marvel source material, Colleen and Misty formed a fighting duo called Daughters of the Dragon. In “Iron Fist,” Colleen (Jessica Henwick) was a solo act. She didn’t know Misty (Simone Missick) at the time. Henwick noted that Colleen’s friendship with Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) has a distinctly different vibe from her scenes with Misty.

“It was interesting going into ‘The Defenders’ because I knew I would meet Misty at some point and I was like, ‘oh I wonder how it would be?’ But Claire and Misty are so worlds apart that it’s brought this whole other flavor to the character,” Henwick teased to Metro.

It doesn’t sound like they’ll have time to start a fighting duo when they finally meet in “The Defenders,” which will show Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) teaming up. Henwick seemed to hint that there isn’t a ton of space for the supporting characters to interact during the eight episode series.

“The only thing I would say is there’s so many characters in the Defenders that when we do pop-up, it can… and because ‘The Defenders’ is set over such a short amount of time, it is hard… you’ll see when it comes out, it’s very different from any of the individual shows. It’s a real event piece and it’s so fun to see the four leads get together,” she said.

Even the leading “Defenders” characters don’t have time to get to know each other. In January, Krysten Ritter teased that trust issues would plague the vigilantes. The heroes are only working together because it seems like their only option. “No one’s best friends in all of the Defenders,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “This is a reluctant team-up.”

“Marvel’s The Defenders” is set to premiere in 2017 on Netflix.
