KEY POINTS

  • Volatile Rounds only applies to Void weapons
  • Void 3.0 allows for wider build varieties within the subclass
  • Fast-firing weapons can trigger Volatile explosions more frequently

There are tons of new build possibilities in the update to “Destiny 2’s” Void subclass, and most of these are made possible by the plethora of aspects and fragments as well as the new artifact mods that players can equip.

Most of these builds do require Void weapons though, especially the ones that make use of the revamped Volatile mechanic. Here are a few recommendations that players may want to consider using the next time they drop into “Destiny 2’s” PvE activities.

Gnawing Hunger

This 600 RPM auto rifle can deal astonishing DPS if players can get a roll with one of its three possible damage perks. Gnawing Hunger can drop with Multikill Clip, Kill Clip and Swashbuckler, making it a solid workhorse for all PvE content.

Its decent rate of fire also makes it an excellent pick for a Volatile Rounds setup due to how quickly it can cause detonations.

Void SMGs

Almost every Void SMG in the game is strong this season because of the same reason as the Gnawing Hunger. Any SMG that can buff its own damage is amazing while Volatile Rounds buff active, but some weapons deserve special mentions.

The Funnelweb SMG - Destiny 2
The Funnelweb SMG Destiny 2

The Funnelweb SMG is very popular at the moment because of its 900 RPM fire rate, but the slower-firing Shayura’s Wrath can deal more DPS if it has Golden Tricorn as one of its perks. However, since Shayura’s is a Trials weapon, players can opt for the Every Waking Moment SMG from the Moon instead.

Le Monarque

This exotic bow has always been good for PvE, especially in Nightfalls. However, it deserves to be mentioned in this list because of how great it is against Barrier Champions with this season’s Anti-Barrier mod as well as its interaction with Volatile Rounds.

Essentially, Le Monarque can now fill the same role as Ticuu’s Divination so long as players have Volatile Rounds. The AoE poison effect can trigger Void explosions and help spread the Volatile effect, potentially causing a massive chain reaction.

Deathbringer

Of all the exotic rocket launchers, Deathbringer is arguably the best option for Void builds as of “Season of the Risen.” The homing void bombs benefit from both Volatile Rounds and Font of Might, causing the weapon to deal absurd DPS.
