Ukraine's army inflicted fire damage and eliminated Russia's reconnaissance group – a scout unit – after Moscow's forces conducted assault attempts near Spirne and Ivano-Daryivka, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

"Glory to Ukraine! The one hundred seventy third (173) day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to a Russian military invasion continues. The situation has not undergone significant changes in the Volyn, Polissya, and Siversky directions," the update on Facebook read. "The situation has not undergone significant changes in the Volyn and Polissky directions."

Russian forces shelled the areas of Senkivka in Chernihiv region and Starykovo, Atynskyi, and Zhuravka in Sumy region, employing barrel artillery as the war in Ukraine continued during the 173rd day of the invasion.

Several regions in Kharkiv also witnessed attacks conducted by Russian troops. The areas of Uda, Borshchiv, Zolochiv, Bezruky, Novye, Rtyshchivka, Ruska Lozova, Cherkasky Tyshki, Petrivka, Stary Saltiv, Mospanove, Korobochkine, Pryshyb, Bayrak, and Chepil saw shelling with tanks and artillery of various types.

"It led an assault in the direction of Tychotske - Dolyna, was unsuccessful, suffered losses, withdrew," the statement read.

Russian airstrikes hit the areas near Peremoha, Pytomnyk and Verkhniy Saltov, while the regions of Hrushuvaha, Dolyna, Krasnopillia, Dibrivne, Kurulka, Protopopivka, and Nortsivka witnessed Moscow's troops firing barrel and jet artillery.

Despite the heavy shelling, Ukrainian soldiers were able to repulse the assault in the direction of Dolyna, Pravda reported.

"In order to improve the tactical position, the occupiers conducted offensive battles in the direction of Pisky and Pervomaiske, they did not succeed, they retreated," Ukraine's armed forces revealed, giving details about several other regions where Russia's military carried out attacks.

Meanwhile, data from the General Staff of Ukraine revealed more than 200 Russian military personnel were killed in the last 24 hours. Ukrainian officials noted the Russian army suffered the most military losses in the Donetsk direction.

The UAF General Staff estimates the Russian military death toll to be 43,800. However, the Kremlin has only released an official military death toll once — shared in March, when they claimed they had lost 498 soldiers.

"Russian propaganda continues to lie, inventing non-existent victories and covering up the crimes of its army and mercenaries. Therefore, we urge you to trust information only from verified sources and not to spread Russian fakes and disinformation," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said Monday.

International Business Times could not independently verify the claims made by Ukraine's forces.
