As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry plan to leave their royal connections behind, Oprah Winfrey is making headlines for the alleged part she played in the decision.

Page Six initially came out with a report that stated the Academy-Award winning actress and acclaimed talk show host had a talk with the royal couple that ultimately resulted in what is now being referred to as “Megxit.” The report states that Winfrey “supported” the couple walking away, further stating that a source told them Winfrey consulted with them about building their own brand.

Winfrey, however, has since denied these claims.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Winfrey clarified her relationship with the royal couple and her connection to the current situation.

"Meghan and Harry do not need my help in figuring out what's best for them,” she told the publication. “I care about them both and support whatever decisions they make for their family.”

Winfrey is a good friend to Meghan and Harry and, in the past, has expressed immense support for Markle and her decisions. When news began spreading about Meghan and Prince Harry’s choices that allegedly broke “royal protocols,” Winfrey went on record to praise Markle and her unmoveable standards.

"To be able to stand up and say this is what I really want for my baby and my family and now I'm going to do it a different way when it's been done that way for a thousand years,” Winfrey said to ET at the time, praising Markle. “I'm just so proud of her."

Despite Queen Elizabeth II being reportedly devastated by the decision the royal couple made, royal courtiers from the four houses have since met up to discuss how to make the transition as easy as possible for the Sussex's.
