KEY POINTS

  • Drew Barrymore and Tom Green called it quits in 2002 after one year of marriage
  • It took them 20 years to see each other again in person
  • Green said it was nice seeing Barrymore, but it was "weird in a way"

Drew Barrymore and her ex-husband Tom Green reunited Tuesday to talk about their past relationship and honeymoon on "The Drew Barrymore Show." It was the first time the former couple saw each other in person in nearly two decades.

Green made a virtual appearance on Barrymore's show last year, during which Barrymore revealed that they had not seen each other face-to-face in almost 20 years.

"Last year, I was reunited with someone very special, the wonderful Tom Green," the female host and actress said as she introduced Green. "We were married, and it was just so wonderful to reconnect with him."

During the "Drew's News" segment, the two broke down the best news stories of the day and shared some of their most memorable moments as a married couple in the past. Green and Barrymore, who starred together in the 2000 film "Charlie's Angels," were married for a year before calling it quits in 2002.

"Remember the road trip we took through Ireland, we hiked up this crazy mountain for hours. We were determined to reach the top but at certain points, I don't think we thought we ever were going to," Barrymore said.

"I remember a couple of things," Green replied. "I think we may have hiked up two mountains. I remember one mountain we go to the top, it was foggy, and there was a sheep up there that hadn't been shorn in years."

After Barrymore described their honeymoon as one of her "favorite" trips ever, Ross Matthews asked the former couple what it felt like seeing each other again after nearly 20 years.

Green described the experience as weird, albeit in a good way.

"I kind of feel like I’m watching this too right now… it's sort of a little but like an outer body experience. It's very nice to see you, it does feel weird though. Not weird in a bad way, weird in a good way. Thanks for having me on the show. It’s awesome. This is cool. I actually think this is kind of a nice way of reconnecting, takes a little bit of the pressure off," he explained.

"Well, I respect and love you," Barrymore told her ex, to which Green replied, "Aww, thank you, Drew. I love you too."
