Singer Dua Lipa was named Honorary Ambassador of Kosovo over the weekend.

The 26-year-old "Levitating" singer who was born to Kosovo Albanian parents took to Instagram and expressed her excitement over the title and wrote, "It's an honor and a privilege to be able to represent my country all over the world and to continue my work and efforts globally to see that we leave our mark and make a difference."

She continued, "The youth of Kosovo deserve the right to visa liberalization, freedom to travel and to dream big. Thank you."

The Grammy Awardee shared a gallery of photos with Kosovo's President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu in the presidential office. It also includes a snap of a letter of invitation from the president dated Aug. 2 that read, "The people of Kosovo have been eagerly awaiting your visit to Prishtina in order to experience your performance firsthand in your beloved hometown."

In the invitation letter, President Sadriu called Lipa a "world-class and once-in-a-generation musician" and a role model for many girls and women across the world. She praised the "Kiss and Make Up" singer's musical achievements as "unmatched" and "truly invaluable."

Lipa also uploaded a photo of the president decorating her with a special medallion. The image was also shared by President Sadriu on her own Instagram page. The caption was written in Albanian but was translated into English by ET and read, "Today, I gave the title of Honorary Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Dua Lipa, because she continues to honor our country in every step and every appearance."

Kosovo's president added, "I thanked her, on behalf of all the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, for everything she has done and is making our voice heard everywhere in the world."

Lipa's parents emigrated from Pristina, Kosovo prior to her birth in London in 1995. According to a report by Vanity Fair, Pristina, in 1995, was increasingly becoming a difficult place to live for the ethnic Albanian majority which pushed her parents to seek refuge overseas. Lipa's grandfather, Seit Lipa, was head of the Institute for the History of Kosovo before it was ordered closed by Serbian law in 1992, a move declared as a sign of burgeoning human rights violations as stated by a United Nations special rapporteur.
