NBC’s “Emerald City” revealed a shocking twist towards the end of Season 1, episode 5 – The Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) knows Dorothy (Adria Arjona). When the Kansas-born girl walked into his chambers and pointed a gun at him, she asked him whether he knows her mother, Karen Chapman. It is then that the Wizard recognizes her as Dorothy and tells her she is back home.

It seems like the Wizard is a man from Dorothy’s world. He was listening to Pink Floyd before Dorothy pointed a gun at him. Moreover, he knew what bullets are.

What will happen next in “Emerald City”?

Dorothy’s confrontation with the Wizard will bring her one step closer to discovering the truth about her past and her mother. In Season 1, episode 6, titled “Beautiful Wickedness,” the nurse will get details about her mother and the Wizard’s past. Furthermore, a glimpse into the Wizard’s past will also reveal the origins of his boundless thirst for power.

While Dorothy is busy learning about her past, Lucas (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) will also be on a journey to unlock his memories. Unfortunately, he will go to great lengths to recall his past. This includes befriending West (Ana Ularu).

Meanwhile, the Wizard is busy preparing for a battle with the witches. The promo of the upcoming “Emerald City” episode shows him declaring a war on magic. Dorothy must choose a side. Will she choose magic or science?

Even though the show has hinted that Dorothy is more than an ordinary girl from Kansas – she imbibed East’s magic after her death – she must come to the realization that maybe she is more than a mere nurse.

Although the Wizard decides to go to war, he still needs weapons to kill witches. The synopsis teases that D’Onofrio’s character will enact a plan with Langwidere (Stefanie Martini) in order to prepare for war.

“Emerald City” airs Fridays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
