Emma Stone has revealed that she almost didn’t finish filming “Birdman.” The actress, who earned a Best Supporting Actress nod at the Oscars for her performance in the Alejandro Inarritu film, said she almost gave up because she did not know how to give what was asked of her.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Stone said: “I had to come in at the very end of this one scene, and it was so scary because everything was timed out … We’d done this scene 30 times, and Alejandro wasn’t getting what he wanted. He said, ‘Maybe it’s not going to work.’”

The actress continued: “This thing came over me… I don’t even care anymore. So when we went back to do the scene, I was crazy. I spit during a take. And Alejandro goes, ‘Beautiful — there it is!’ I wasn’t trying to make it perfect anymore.”

Stone’s career has been steadily rising, and she says she’s happy that her teacher in elementary school put her in a play at an early age.

Speaking of how she got her start in acting, the actress told The Hollywood Reporter: “My teacher putting me in the [class] play. It was all fifth-graders, and I was the only first-grader, which felt so cool because everyone was older. I felt like I had an outlet. And then doing youth theater, I felt the same.”

Stone added that she thought she would pursue a career in theater, but she realized that she is not much of a singer and dancer, so she pursued cinema instead. The actress, however, has not been able to escape singing and dancing. She had a stint in the Broadway showing of “Cabaret.” Her latest film, “La La Land,” features her busting moves and crooning with Ryan Reynolds.

On how she feels about the status of her career, Stone told First Showing: “I feel really excited and reinvigorated.”
