Although Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) will be in prison when Season 2 of “Empire” begins, he'll have some pretty powerful friends showing their support for him. Two of them will be Rev. Al Sharpton and former editor-at-large for Vogue André Leon Talley.

Sharpton and Talley are going to be appearing on the season premiere of the hip-hop drama, Entertainment Weekly reports. The two are expected to be seen at a “Free Lucious” concert, which has been seen in the show's promos. Fans will remember that Lucious was imprisoned after being arrested for Bunkie's (Antoine McKay) murder.

The newest trailer for the upcoming season, gave fans a first look at guest stars Chris Rock, as one of Lucious' fellow inmates and Marissa Tomei, as Mimi Whitman. Rapper Ludacris was also shown as a prison guard.

People reports that pop diva Mariah Carey will also be on the show at some point this season. Jussie Smollet, who plays Jamal Lyon on the show, said: “That makes me feel so good to say that rumor is true.”

Meanwhile, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Kelly Rowland are also reported to be guest starring in Season 2, according to E! Online. Last season featured guest spots by stars such as Cuba Gooding Jr., Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Patti LaBelle and Raven-Symoné.

Lucious, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and the rest of the Lyon family are in for more drama this season as tensions rise among the three Lyon sons -- Andre (Trai Byers), Jamal and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) for control of “Empire.”

“Empire” Season 2 premieres Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
