A lot happened in the Season 3 fall finale of Fox’s “Empire.” Jamal was sent to rehab, Lucious revealed a dark secret about Angelo, ghost Rhonda told Andre that he needs to take out the person who killed her and their unborn baby, it was revealed that Shine was giving information to Tariq and Andre announced that he wants to kill Lucious. Talk about an action-packed 60 minutes.

Following the episode airing, executive producer Sanaa Hamri spoke with Entertainment Tonight about that crazy midseason finale and tease what’s next for the Lyon family. According to Hamri, there’s a good chance Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) days are numbered. She told the outlet that Andre (Trai Byers) is definitely the type of person to follow through with his plan to kill someone.

“He’s been plotting and planning since the fifth episode of the third season,” she said. “He’s extremely calculated and smart, so I fear for Lucious’ life because I know that Andre is going to follow through. He has no wife, no child — he has a girlfriend — but he literally has nothing to lose, and people with nothing to lose are the most dangerous. It makes sense that he wants to kill Lucious and he’s going to do whatever he can to achieve that goal.”

Hamri said Andre is now like a “Lucious 2.0” but a lot more dangerous. “He’s learned from his own father, so he’s even more along the line of having the qualities that Lucious has to do what he’s got to do,” the executive producer explained. “The difference between him and Lucious is he is crazy. … He’s rogue now and lawless and knows the law, so he’s going to be able to manipulate the law to his advantage.”

Another big plot twist in Wednesday night’s fall finale was Jamal (Jussie Smollett) being sent to rehab to deal with his pill-popping addiction. In a separate interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Hamri revealed that there will be a slight time jump when the show returns for its midseason premiere next year but promised that fans will get to see Jamal in rehab.

“We wanted to talk about — a lot of artists and very important people do a lot of drugs — it goes hand-in-hand with the music industry so we feel like it’s really important that we address Jamal’s addiction and the rehab process,” she told the outlet. “It’s going to be interesting to see how the family reacts.”

Season 3 of “Empire” returns March 22 at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
