With every passing game, Erling Haaland has shown he has the capability to become the next big thing in soccer. Since the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have entered the twilight years of their respective careers, that has opened doors for talents such as Haaland, who is not leaving any stone unturned to showcase his talent on the big platform.

At the age of 19 years and 10 months, Haaland’s goalscoring records are far more superior to the likes of Messi and Ronaldo when they were of his age. As per AS, Haaland has scored 62 goals in as many as 106 matches he has played, giving him an average goals-per-game ratio of 0.58.

At the same age, Messi had netted 20 goals in 63 appearances, while Ronaldo had only scored 12 goals in 87 matches.

The Norwegian striker has already scored 62 goals in his club career, which began just three years back when he made his first-team debut with Eliteserien. However, Messi and Ronaldo needed far more matches to reach the 62-goal mark at club level: Messi took 132 games in comparison to Ronaldo’s 233 matches.

Haaland’s first 20 goals came in an easier league, Norway Premier League, next 29 with Austrian side RB Salzburg before scoring the rest with Dortmund in Bundesliga, a league that features among the top-flight soccer leagues in the world. However, his Champions League performances speak volumes about his potential to shine at the highest level in soccer. He has scored 10 goals in 10 Champions League matches, while he scored 13 goals in 14 appearances for Dortmund, helping the side to remain alive in the Bundesliga challenge this season.

Earlier, Haaland had become the first-ever teenager to score 40 or more goals in a single season, a feat that even eluded the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.
