ONE Championship will celebrate its 10th anniversary this Saturday, March 26 in Singapore, featuring a star-studded bout lineup with intriguing matchups from mixed martial arts (MMA), kickboxing, Muay Thai, and submission-grappling.

With only a few days to go before the monumental live event, the International Business Times shares some significant and critical facts that fans need to know about ONE X.

Fitting Venue

The 12,000-capacity Singapore Indoor Stadium had a major role to play in the humble beginnings of ONE Championship, opening the arena doors for the promotion to hold its inaugural show dubbed “ONE FC: Champion vs. Champion” on September 3, 2011.

Since then, the venue has hosted a total of 55 ONE Championship shows and has seen a plethora of world title-clinching performances—from Angela Lee becoming the youngest MMA world champion in history to Eduard Folayang’s upset win over Shinya Aoki to capture the lightweight title.

No. 56 is in the books on Saturday as the Singapore Indoor Stadium plays host to ONE X.

Original Date

ONE X was originally going to happen on December 5 of last year, but due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Singapore, the outfit decided to postpone it and move the highly-anticipated affair to March 26.

Title Fights

Five world championships will be on the line at ONE X on Saturday, but the world title encounter that has everybody talking about is the much-awaited clash between longtime atomweight queen Angela Lee and challenger Stamp Fairtex.

Serving as one of the co-feature attractions on the “Grand Finale” portion is the return of Adriano Moraes, who will be defending his ONE flyweight belt against Japanese knockout artist Yuya Wakamatsu.

Furthermore, Superbon Singha Mawynn is penciled to stake his ONE kickboxing featherweight championship against Marat Grigorian in a scheduled five-round collision.

Muay Thai bantamweight champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao is slated to battle Felipe Lobo, while Capitan Petchyindee Academy goes one-on-one with Hiroki Akimoto with his kickboxing bantamweight title up for grabs.

ONE Championship has come up with a new and improved world title design, which will be handed to the title bout winners of the upcoming ONE X event.

Meanwhile, a silver-plated championship title will be awarded at ONE X as Chingiz Allazov locks horns with Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in the finals of the ONE Kickboxing World Grand Prix finals.

Going Hybrid

The Singapore-based organization will be pushing the envelope at ONE X as former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson is set to take on Thai striker Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a hybrid MMA-Muay Thai bout.

Both men will square off in a three-round flyweight bout with each round having three minutes. The first and third stanzas will be fought under Muay Thai rules, while the second and fourth periods will take place under the promotion’s “global ruleset” for mixed martial arts (MMA).

Four-ounce MMA-style gloves will be worn in both regulations.

Under Muay Thai rules, a competitor can win by knockout or via stoppage if they score three knockdowns in a single round. On the other hand, an athlete can win by knockout or submission during rounds where MMA rules are observed.

If the fight goes the distance, the result will automatically be declared a draw.

The unique concept of the aforementioned super-fight has piqued the interest of fans and pundits alike as this type of matchup is extremely rare and has only happened a number of times in history.

Crossover Fights

Novelty fights have been the ongoing trend since last year, and ONE Championship is fully committing itself to set the standard for crossover matches moving forward.

Australian legend John Wayne Parr is officially calling it a career on Saturday, and he hopes to end his illustrious run with a bang as he takes on Filipino MMA superstar Eduard Folayang in a three-round Muay Thai encounter.

Meanwhile, two-division ONE champion Reinier de Ridder faces off with Brazilian jiu-jitsu icon Andre Galvao in a middleweight submission-grappling.

The other submission-only bout booked is former two-time atomweight title contender Mei Yamaguchi welcoming grappling phenom Danielle Kelly in the promotion.

On the other hand, Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang is set to figure in a rare Filipino-versus-Filipino showdown with Jeremy Miado.

Moreover, former BRAVE CF bantamweight titlist Stephen Loman battles ex-Shooto champion Shoko Sato—with the winner possibly getting a shot at John Lineker’s bantamweight championship.
