Actor and model Nick Bateman, who makes his Hallmark Channel debut with “A Brush with Love” later this month, teamed up with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for a new campaign, and International Business Times has the exclusive video premiere of his experience with the organization.

The Instagram influencer’s helping PETA raise awareness of “the suffering of ‘outdoor dogs’ who are forced to brave the cold winter weather chained up outside,” according to a press release. Not only is he using his celebrity platform to aid the cause, but he also got up-close-and-personal with the issue at hand.

Recently, Bateman joined a team of fieldworkers as they tended to dogs tied up outside in the cold as part of the organization’s doghouse program. They replenished water bowls, delivered doghouses, refilled food dishes and gave lots of love and affection, all of which can be seen in the new campaign video (watch above).

“It is completely legal to leave your dog outside, chained up to a fence, which is kind of infuriating considering how cold it is here,” the star of Passionflix’s “The Matchmaker’s Playbook” says in the clip.

Bateman, who joins a long list of celebrities who have teamed up with PETA, including Bella Thorne, Amanda Cerny and Gregg Sulkin, finishes out the video by saying, “I’m happy I was able to come out today and experience this and do my part to help out.”

More information on PETA’s doghouse program can be found on the organization’s website, and Bateman fans can next see the actor in Hallmark Channel’s “A Brush with Love” on March 30 at 8 p.m. EST.
