Ray Stussy (Ewan McGregor) and his girlfriend Nikki Swango (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) are going to seek revenge in Season 3, episode 6 of “Fargo.”

In the trailer for the episode, Ray vows to get vengeance on the men who assaulted Nikki at the end of last episode. “No one puts a finger on my woman,” Ray says in the promo clip as he gets his gun from a drawer.

Last episode, Ray and Nikki made a sex tape in which Ray was disguised as his brother, Emmit Stussy (also played by McGregor). The couple left a copy of the sex tape at the doorstep of Emmit’s house, along with a message that read: “Pay us $100,000 or we show your wife.” Unfortunately for the blackmailers, and for Emmit as well, his wife Stella (Linda Kash) got hold of the sex tape first. She watched the video and was convinced that the man in it was her husband. Shortly after seeing the sex tape, Stella left Emmit, leaving him devastated.

After Emmit’s right-hand man, Sy Feltz (Michael Stuhlbarg), learned about what happened, the Parking Lot King of Minnesota ordered him to fix their problem with Ray and Nikki “whatever it takes.” Emmit figured out that Nikki is the one poisoning Ray’s mind, so in an attempt to get rid of the lovers once and for all, Sy reached out to Nikki over the phone and set a meeting between them.

Sy and Nikki met up at one of the parking lots owned by Emmit. Much to their surprise, V.M. Varga’s (David Thewlis) henchmen, Yuri (Goran Bogdan) and Meemo (Andy Yu), showed up at the meeting place and interfered with the pair’s negotiations. Yuri and Meemo, who don’t know anything about the bad blood between Ray and Emmit, thought that Sy was secretly meeting with Nikki to help him and Emmit get out of the Varga situation. So in order to make Sy learn his lesson, Yuri and Meemo assaulted Nikki despite Sy’s repeated plea not to hurt the ex-con.

Ray and Nikki are not privy to Emmit and Sy’s deal with Varga, so the couple probably thinks that Emmit instructed Yuri and Meemo to brutally beat her.

Meanwhile, according to the synopsis for episode 6, “Emmit tries to make things right.” It’s unclear, however, whether Emmit is going to make things right with Stella, who believes that he’s sleeping with other women, or with Ray, whom he tricked into trading the items they each inherited from their dead father years ago.

Also in next week’s episode, Gloria Burgle (Carrie Coon) and Winnie Lopez (Olivia Sandoval) get closer to the truth about Ennis Stussy’s (Scott Hylands) murder. Last episode, the crime-solving duo brought Ray in for questioning. And as seen in the trailer for episode 6, Gloria pays Emmit a visit at his office and asks him about his relationship with Ray. The interrogation happens while Varga is in the same room. Apparently that interview piques Varga’s interest in Ray, so he orders his henchmen to find the other Stussy for him.

“Fargo” Season 3, episode 6, titled “The Lord of No Mercy,” airs on Wednesday, May 24 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX. Watch the trailer below:
