A fire broke out in multiple apartment buildings in Rumford Avenue, Maine, on Sunday night. The fire initially engulfed a single apartment building but then spread to adjacent buildings as well.

The fire reportedly started at around 11 p.m. EST. Local reports said five buildings caught fire within another hour. Rumford Fire crew reached the spot and was joined by several other departments from nearby towns. The fire was brought under control after some time.

The firefighters said there were no injuries. However, some local reports claimed that one ambulance left the scene with an injured person in it. When the authorities reached the spot, they witnessed people escaping from the fire by jumping out of the windows. It was also reported that the electricity in the area was cut for an hour after the fire started for safety measures.

The reports had added that the snow in the area had turned to sleet due to the fire.

The office of the fire chief will investigate the incident to determine the source of the fire.
