A firefighter in the U.K. who was responding to a fatal car wreck Sunday was "devastated" to find his own daughter dead.

Adrian was shocked to discover the mangled remains of his daughter, Ella Brooke Smith (21) in the passenger seat of her white Ford Ka, which was being driven by her boyfriend as the pair was headed home from the Broad Haven beach. Her boyfriend, as well as a man and a woman in another vehicle, suffered severe injuries in the crash.

The side of the car where Ella was sitting was smashed by another car, killing her instantly, 7 News reported.

"It must have been a complete nightmare for Adrian to find his own daughter was the victim," a family friend of the deceased told 7 News. "Ella was a lovely girl, they are a lovely family - everyone is in shock and totally devastated."

Deputies believed the crash occurred after Ella’s car overturned on a curve and got struck by another vehicle, according to The Telegraph.

Hours after Ella’s death, Adrian posted an image of himself and Ella on Facebook, which showed her dancing at a party when she was a little girl. Family members extended their sympathy to Ella’s bereaved parents, describing her as a "beautiful young lady" and "the kindest soul you could meet."

“Yet again another gorgeous person taken away from us, the world is so cruel. I loved every minute of speaking to you Ella, you never failed to make me laugh. According to The Telegraph, one of the best is” Pal Chloe Kinsella, a family friend, said in a statement.

"We are utterly devastated at losing our beloved Ella. She was a much loved and caring daughter, sister, and granddaughter. She was a beautiful girl who will be missed by us all. We would like to thank everyone for their support at this horrific time. It has meant so much to the whole family as we grieve for our Ella," the victim’s family said in a statement, according to 7 News.

Ella was reportedly working at a bakery and was a trainee nurse.
