Jurgen Klopp, who finished five years as Liverpool's boss Thursday, recollected the moment when he received a phone call from his agent about an offer from The Reds.

After ending his stint with Dortmund as their long-serving manager, Klopp took charge of Liverpool in the middle of the 2015-16 season.

Klopp has etched himself as one of the legends of Liverpool, having led the side to four trophies over the last two years. Under Klopp’s reign, Liverpool won their sixth Champions League title, their maiden FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and the most recent victory came in the Premier League. It was the Merseyside club’s first league title in 30 years and their first Premier League trophy.

In an interview that appeared on Liverpool's official website, Klopp revealed that he was on vacation with his family in Lisbon when he received the Liverpool news.

"I cannot forget the moment when I got the call from my agent that Liverpool is interested. And the feeling I had in that moment. I said it a couple of times, I was completely in a holiday mood; we were in Portugal, in Lisbon, with the family, both boys were with us. Ulla and I were sitting in an outside coffee bar. Actually, I didn’t take a lot of phone calls at that time, it was like: ‘Come on, don’t bother me.’ But then I saw it and it was like I had a feeling it could be something interesting. So I take the phone and he tells me, and I felt the excitement inside," added Klopp in the interview.

The German manager also mentioned that he could not immediately say yes to his agent as he wanted to get his family’s opinion before making the final decision. "I still remember both boys were like: 'Yes!' We look at Ulla [Klopp's wife] and she looked at all three of us: 'Oh, it looks like the holiday is over!'," added Klopp, who is currently contracted with Liverpool until 2024.

"But this very first moment when I got aware of the interest of Liverpool was already pretty special. And from that moment on it got better and better," said Klopp on being asked to narrate his top 10 moments so far in his stint with Liverpool.
