  • Floyd Mayweather will face Liam Harrison in an exhibition boxing bout this February

Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be heading back to the boxing ring later for an exhibition bout in the United Kingdom.

The retired boxing icon announced the news on Instagram on Thursday, January 19.

Mayweather, who owns a perfect 50-0 professional boxing record, revealed that he would be facing off against English Muay Thai and kickboxing specialist Liam Harrison at the world-famous O2 Arena in London on February 25th.

"It's official. My first exhibition fight in the UK will be at the O2 Arena," Mayweather wrote.

Widely regarded as one of the best fighters to ever compete in the sport of boxing, Mayweather competed professionally from 1996 to 2017 and won 15 major world championships in five weight divisions.

In his career, Mayweather compiled a stellar resumé that includes victories over the likes of Zab Judah, Arturo Gatti, Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosely, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez, Marcos Maidana, Manny Pacquiao and Andre Berto.

Mayweather retired from the sport in 2015 and then returned to face mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor in perhaps the most high-profile crossover bout in the history of combat sports in 2017.

He defeated McGregor by way of 10th-round TKO.

Since then, "Money Mayweather" has continued to remain active in boxing, mainly competing in exhibition bouts against a wide range of athletes and celebrities.

In 2018, Mayweather Jr. faced Japanese kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa under the Japan-based Rizin Fighting Federation promotion.

While it was scheduled to be a three-round contest, the bigger Mayweather dominated Nasukawa en route to a first-round TKO win.

Mayweather then went on to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan Paul and undefeated pugilist Don Moore in back-to-back non-scored exhibition bouts in 2021 and 2022.

In September 2022, again under the Rizin banner, Mayweather defeated Japanese mixed martial artist Mikuru Asakura by second-round TKO.

Mayweather's most recent exhibition bout took place the in November 2022, facing another internet sensation in Deji Olatunji at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.

Mayweather won by sixth-round stoppage.

Harrison, on the other hand, is highly decorated in Muay Thai, with world championships under many organizations such as Kombat League, WBC Muay Thai, World Muay Thai Council and World Professional Muay Thai Federation.

"Hitman" most recently competed under the ONE Championship banner, where he unsuccessfully vied for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai title against reigning champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao by TKO in the first round.
