The largest cruise ship has docked in New York City. History was made when MSC Meraviglia berthed at Manhattan Cruise Terminal’s Pier 88 at the north end in the early hours of Monday, October 7.

“We are so thrilled to welcome MSC Meraviglia, a truly beautiful ship, to the U.S. as she marks another major milestone for MSC Cruises in the North American market,” commented Ken Muskat, EVP & Chief Operating Officer of MSC Cruises.

Grand features

The mega-ship MSC Meraviglia has room for more than 4,500 passengers and is the fourth-largest cruise ship in the world. It is sure to give hefty competition to entrenched players like Carnival cruise.

The ship has been designed to sail in all seasons and climates. According to cruise news, the top features of MSC Meraviglia include a pool that is backed by a full water park and a plethora of slides and 10 plus dining areas along with a spa.

Upcoming Itinerary

According to reports, MSC Meraviglia will start the North America program with three cruises from New York, in which two will go to New England and Canada and one will take her to a new homeport in Miami.

MSC Meraviglia will depart for the first Caribbean sailing from NYC on October 28.

The luxury MSC cruise ship will also have the distinction of being the first ship to call on Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the private island destination of the cruise company in the Bahamas scheduled to open on November 9, 2019.

From November 10 to April 5, 2020, MSC Meraviglia will sail two different western Caribbean itineraries and visit ports in Jamaica, Belize, The Bahamas, Mexico, the Cayman Islands, and Honduras.

After the inaugural season in Miami, MSC Meraviglia will return to Northern Europe for summer 2020 for the months from April to September.

When it is back in the U.S. on October 2020, the elegant cruise ship will have three 10-night sailings from New York to Canada and New England before proceeding to Miami for Caribbean sailings.

Meanwhile, New York is showing a higher demand. The Circle Line Full Island Cruise will give a three-hour cruise as a city tour to savor the beauty of New York.
