With inflation still wreaking havoc on the wallets of most Americans, another state appears primed to provide a small form of relief by way of a new stimulus payment.

According to Kiplinger, some residents of the state of Virginia are eligible for a new tax "stimulus" rebate of up to $250 for individual filers and $500 for joint filers. The funds are being given to those who had a tax liability on their 2021 state tax returns, and if taxes are filed by Nov. 1, those people are eligible for the rebate.

Virginia is one of several states sending out credits in the form of a rebate or due to a budget surplus, with California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho and Massachusetts also sending residents funds in varying amounts. Minnesota has also sent out payments as well.

The new checks come as Americans continue to support the idea of the government providing some form of financial relief, with 75% of respondents to a September Pollfish survey stating they supported the idea of checks being given as a response to inflationary pressure. That same survey also showed conflicting feelings regarding checks, with 44% also blaming government spending (which includes checks) for inflation.

Regardless of American feelings about checks, higher prices are still forcing many to rethink their spending habits. While gas prices have dropped again in recent weeks, they are still averaging $3.76 a gallon nationwide, according to AAA. While the price is better than the average both one week ago and one month ago, it is still more than $0.30 over the average price of $3.40 a gallon that was seen a year ago.

In some of the states where new stimulus aid has gone out, the price of gas is even higher. California is currently averaging $5.58 per gallon for gas, while Idaho is seeing an average price of $4.33.

To make matters worse, prices in the grocery store are also still persistently high, with both the Consumer Price Index and Producer Price Index growing 0.4% overall in September
