The friends of Russian President Vladimir Putin's rumored lover, Alina Kabaeva, have pleaded with the former Olympic gymnast to persuade Russia's head of state to end the war in Ukraine, a report has claimed.

"Alina’s female friends are begging her to fly to Putin and persuade him to end the war. He doesn’t seem to be listening to anybody, but perhaps he might listen to her," an unnamed source told the New York Post's Page Six.

"Putin is surrounded by rings and rings of security. Alina says she doesn’t know if she can get to him – and even if she does – she doesn’t know if she’ll be able to get out again to be with their kids," the source added.

Kabaeva, 38, is currently hiding out in a luxury chalet owned by a Putin loyalist near the French border in Switzerland, Page Six previously reported, citing unnamed sources.

The Uzbekistan-born gymnast is accompanied by the four children she reportedly shares with Putin — two young boys and twin girls — all of whom were born in Switzerland and have Swiss passports, a source told the outlet.

"Alina could be traveling under a number of different names and passports. She flies on private jets and would not risk traveling under her own name," the source claimed.

Switzerland's government allegedly has no solid information on whether Kabaeva and her children are sheltering in the country.

However, nearly 60,000 people have signed a petition demanding that the Swiss government throw out Kabaeva and the kids from Switzerland.

Putin was still married to his first wife, former flight attendant Lyudmila Shkrebneva, when he first met Kabaeva.

The gymnast was at the height of her athletic fame at the time following her bronze and gold medal wins at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2004 Games in Athens, respectively.

Kabaeva's two Olympic wins, 14 World Championship medals and 21 European Championship medals have made her one of the most decorated gymnasts in rhythmic gymnastics history.

She was later recruited and ran under Putin's United Russia party before she was suspected of being Russia's rumored "secret first lady" in 2008.

Kabaeva was then appointed to run the state-owned National Media Group in 2014 with a reported annual salary of $10 million.

She has rarely been seen in public over the last few years despite her high-profile role.
