George and Amal Clooney are planning to upgrade their mansion in rural Berkshire village.

According to Daily Mail, George and Amal are building a “garden shed” on the grounds of their $15.6 million mansion for “security purposes.” The couple moved into their 17th century home in 2016 after an extensive 18-month renovation, Daily Mail reported.

The Hollywood actor and the humanitarian lawyer sent a planning request to the local council for the shed which was described as a typical garden shed with rectangular footprint and pitched roof. It will be clad in timber boards and the roof will be covered in cedar shingles.

George and Amal’s Georgian home stands on the stretch of Thames and is secluded by trees. However, the high-profile couple still wants to improve its security because their home continues to attract tourists.

“Development proposals comprise the construction of a single outbuilding for security purposes,” their application read.

“The proposed outbuilding is intended solely for incidental use in connection with main dwelling house. The proposed location is within a landscaped bed between the gravel driveway and the gravel parking area outside the main house. The existing landscaping will screen views of the outbuilding from the house.”

The garden shed’s security base will be built from the River Thames which runs alongside the couple’s home and regularly atip its banks into the lawned area during heavy rains. South Oxfordshire District Council is expected to make its decision in the next few weeks.

The Clooneys paid for the property for $9.75 million back in 2014 just a couple of weeks after their three-day wedding in Venice. The house has been renovated and its interior now features a light, modern ambiance.

Meanwhile, George and Amal’s relationship has been rumored to be on the rocks. Earlier this month, a source told Radar Online that the “Ocean’s Eleven” star hasn’t been with his twins for 200 days already amid his alleged bitter divorce and custody battle with Amal.

“George and Amal have been arguing over their varying lifestyles — and rumors of a rift have been going around for months,” a source told the publication. “She’s all business, he’s all play. They’re like oil and water. They don’t mix — and there’s talk of a possible custody fight over the twins.”

There are also rumors that he cheated on Amal with his friend Julia Roberts. However, one should take the report with a grain of salt as George and Robert are only friends, according to more credible sources. They worked together in various movies and the “Pretty Woman” actress described George and Amal as a “great couple.
