Since the time power couple George Clooney and Amal Clooney tied the knot in September 2014, rumor mills have gone rife about the human rights lawyer being pregnant. The couple, however, has extended their family by adopting a dog in October.

It was reported in November that the couple was reportedly ready for a baby and were designing "matching baby wings" at their homes in Los Angeles and the U.K. It was then being said that the 54-year-old actor was also considering adoption like his close friends Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and has been asking them for tips.

The “Tomorrowland” actor was asked if his wife Amal was pregnant at the Good Money Gala on Tuesday. The actor brushed off the rumor saying “no.” Besides, Clooney added joking that he liked that a rumor was started about his wife being pregnant.

He and his Amal celebrated their first wedding anniversary in September. The couple also had another reason to celebrate recently as the 37-year-old barrister was successful in granting her client the former president of Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed a temporary relief from prison in his home country. Nasheed is currently in London for a spine surgery.

Amal, her co-counsel Jared Gesner and colleague Ben Emmerson are lobbying for the release of former Malvides president in London. They held a press conference and also met prime minister of Britain Davd Cameroon. Nasheed was jailed on terrorism charges after a trial which was described as “mockery of justice” by the UN in 2013.

“The president of the Maldives was let out of prison, because of a lot of the hard work that [Amal] was doing,” said George. He added that Amal had a very good week.

In an interview to NBC earlier this month, Amal said that she felt a “certain responsibility” balancing her life as a lawyer. And she was trying to use her celebrity status for a good cause.
