Sony has officially confirmed that PlayStation 5 is the official name of its next-generation console and has even revealed its release window. With this, fans are getting more excited about the titles releasing and exclusively releasing on the next generation gaming console from Sony. And, it appears that one of the games exclusively releasing on the PS5 is the next iteration to the successful “God of War” series.

The hype train of “God of War” is once again chugging following a series of job listing indicative of a sequel. The current title received a Metacritic score of 94 and almost perfect reviews since it was released in April 2018. Now, it clearly appears that the gaming studio is working on a sequel, most likely one which will be available on the PS4 and PS5 consoles based on the job listings it posted on its official website.

For fans wondering if the next “God Of War” installation would see Atreus and Kratos go back to Greece or in some other mythological realm, that does not seem likely to happen. It appears that the father and son tandem will still be in the Norse realms for the second round, which is fine. A recent tweet from Shayna Moon, Sony’s Santa Monica associate producer, gives us a strong hint that the fan-favorite divine tandem will still be calling Midgard their home.

Neither SMS nor Sony has officially confirmed the existence of “God of War” sequel or that it is in development. Fans are also arguing on whether it will be called “God of War 2” or “God of War 5” when it finally releases. But, it is worth noting that SMS is not actually denying that its eyes stay on “God of War” in the coming future.

This is not the first time that Sony Santa Monica Studios has made a massive hiring push in the past few months. The gaming studio posted a number of available positions in the fall of 2018. However, what makes this recent set of job listings interesting is that it is obviously intended for the next “God of War” title.

There are many speculations on what could happen in the next “God of War” title. Some claim that Kratos and Atreus might visit Asgard, Svartalfheim, and Vanaheim. One thing is sure, though, that the next “God of War” title will definitely be exclusively releasing on the PlayStation 5.
