Google is re-branding Picasa and Blogger as ‘Google Photos’ and ‘Google Blogs’ respectively to further unify its new social networking site Google+ into its gamut of products.

A number of other Google products will also be given news names to consolidate its products for the new platform, though, YouTube will retain its own branding.

Google had earlier re-branded JotSpot as Google Sites in 2008 and VIOP platform GrandCentral as Google Voice in 2009.

The transition from Picasa and Blogger to Google Photos and Google Blogs will occur “in a month to a month and a half,” reports Mashable. In July 31, Google+ is expected to launch in public. All private Google profiles will be deleted on that day.

With the launch of Google +, Google doesn’t want to maintain private profiles, they want to make it public to make it accessible to people helping them connect you.
