GOT7’s member Youngjae has signed up to be an organ donor, saying that he hopes to give other people “happiness and hope” with this gesture.

South Korea's Center for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that the K-pop star, whose full name is Choi Young-jae, made the pledge during his appearance in the agency’s video, titled “Kwanghee and Jo Soobin's Sharing Room Guest,” promoting organ donation. In the clip, Youngjae, 23, opened up about his decision to register as a donor.

“Organ donation is something that can be a blessing for someone— something that can bring one person happiness or hope,” the GOT7 member said.

“I’ve always thought it looked really cool and admirable when people who pledged to become organ donors had the symbol [indicating their pledge] on the bottom of their driver’s licenses. By signing up to be an organ donor, I feel like I’m becoming a cool person, so I’m grateful for the opportunity,” Youngjae added.

On Twitter, Youngjae and GOT7’s fans praised the South Korean singer for registering and for raising awareness for organ donation.

“That's extremely kind of him,” one fan wrote.

Others were inspired by what he did, with one person saying, “Oh my goodness Youngjae I love you so much and that's so sexy of you, I'm planning of doing that too in the future, maybe in my early 30s.”

“That's wonderful it also brings light to this matter, what a beautiful human being,” another Twitter user said.

GOT7’s Youngjae’s announcement comes a month after he lashed out on a person who invaded his privacy. In a now-deleted post, the K-pop star said, “Stop coming to the front of the hair and makeup shop. And are you threatening me?”

“When you secretly took photos of me speaking with other people at a café and then came up to me and asked ‘Can I post this?’” he added.

Youngjae previously warned fans to stop following him around. In 2016, he firmly asked them to stop intruding during his private time.

The GOT7 member repeated the same plea twice in 2018. Last year, Youngjae requested them to stop attempting to reach him through the phone.
