The phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) delivered many iconic movies like “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Ant-Man," and many more. One of the franchises that performed well and earned good reviews was “Guardians Of The Galaxy.” The movie was a huge success for Marvel and its characters were loved by many fans.

Up until “Avengers: Infinity War” hit the theaters, there was a lot of suspense regarding the on-screen presence of the “GOTG” characters in the movie. The "GOTG" franchise chronicles the journey of five characters – Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Drax, and Rocket Raccoon – and their adventures in outer space.

Fans were quite excited to see the important role that all the “GOTG” characters had in “Infinity War” since it gave an amazing angle to the story.

James Gunn, the director of the “GOTG” films, recently opened up about how the characters were only supposed to do “cameos” in the film. Gunn hosted a watch party on Twitter and gave answers to most of the questions asked to him about the various aspect of his movies and his directing skills.

One of the netizens asked if the filmmaker knew all along how significant the characters would be in “Infinity War” and “Endgame.”

Gunn then replied that originally they were just going to have cameos in the third “Avengers” film. He also admitted that their cameos evolved into something more when he was writing the screenplay for “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2.”

“Originally they were solely going to cameo in ‘Avengers 3’ but by the time I was writing the screenplay for Vol 2, it became something more,” Gunn wrote.

The first two “GOTG” movies were a massive success at the box office. The first film released in 2014 accumulated more than $770 million globally while the second volume earned over $863 million worldwide.

In related news, Gunn has finished filming the upcoming “Suicide Squad” movie. The cast includes Margot Robbie, John Cena, Viola Davis, David Dastmalchian, Jai Courtney, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Taika Waititi, Sean Gunn, and many more.

It will be the third time for Robbie to portray the character of Harley Quinn after her amazing outing in the original “Suicide Squad” movie in 2016 and this year’s “Birds Of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn.”

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
