Things are going to get even more complicated between Bruce (David Mazouz) and Selina (Carmen Bicondova) in “Gotham” Season 4. FOX

Throughout the first three seasons of “Gotham,” Selina Kyle (Carmen Bicondova) has come to count on Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) as a friend and even a love interest.

But things have not always gotten along great between them. So this Season 4, Selina made up her mind to let go of her dependence on Bruce and make it on her own. Bicondova told Buddy TV that Selina “has come to the realization that she can't depend on [Bruce] for anything, no matter what she does, so she decides to look out for herself.”

However, Selina will be getting some help from Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas) and Barbara Kean (Erin Richards). Bicondova said the women are “at least attempting to take control” this season, and they are “trying to take control of themselves and making their mark as far as actually having something to go to people and say, ‘Hey, we actually have our stuff together, don't mess with us.’”

Despite Selina’s will to become independent, she won’t let go of Bruce completely. The two will have several interactions this season, and it won’t always be good.

“[Their relationship] gets mended and then it falls apart again,” Bicandova told Digital Spy. “So it’s just that rollercoaster that they're always on. I feel like Bruce decides to just buckle up on the rollercoaster – he likes to go on it – and Selina likes to jump off and do her own thing... she doesn't like being on the rollercoaster, but she can't help getting back on!”

Meanwhile, Barbara’s partnership with the Sirens still hangs in the balance because of her relationship with Ra’s al Ghul (Alexander Siddig). Selina and Tabitha definitely won’t be pleased to discover Babs’ ties with the villain, and whether or not they’d still want to be her partner after discovery still remains to be seen.

But one thing’s for certain - Bruce will do everything in his power to stop the villain. Mazouz even told Rotten Tomatoes that “this is the most evil Ra’s al Ghul. This is the Ra’s al Ghul that will do awful, awful, very, very controversial things that I’m surprised they’re letting us do on national television.”

“Gotham” Season 4 airs every Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
