“Grand Theft Auto Online” fans are getting worried. The long-awaited heists feature, which was promised by New York City-based developer Rockstar Games earlier this spring, has yet to reach the open-world game.

On April 2, Rockstar assured fans the feature was on its way:

Heists: Coming this spring to Grand Theft Auto Online, team up with your most trusted Crew members or with random other mercenaries in Grand Theft Auto Online to pull off cooperative Heist Missions for glory and profit. We know many in the GTA Online community have been looking forward to this update — stay tuned for much more information to come.

Spring came and went, and though Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (NASDAQ:TTWO) released more exclusive content and updates for the open-world action game, players still aren’t able to engage in heists, or elaborate story missions, which were introduced in 2003’s “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.”

Many impatient gamers began concocting theories of their own, wondering if Rockstar would wait until it launches “Grand Theft Auto 5” on the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 near year's end to release heist missions. That could be a smart business move since many players would have to upgrade to an eighth-generation console to play heists in “GTA Online.”

YouTuber Chr0m3 xMoDz is confident that heists are on the way. In the video below, he shows fans the folder name the animation files can be found in, as well as the file names. Then he demonstrates all 104 animations.

“Grand Theft Auto V" was launched in October for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and is an open-world action game developed by Rockstar North of Scotland and published by Rockstar Games of New York.

“GTA V,” which received highly favorable reviews, was the 15th installment in the “GTA” series, and the first game since 2008’s “GTA IV.” The Spike Video Game Awards gave the title the Most Anticipated Game award in 2012. The game won the Game of the Year award at the 2013 Golden Joystick Awards. Only three days after its release, IGN listed “GTA V” as second on its list of “Top 25 Xbox 360 Games.”

“GTA Online” is a dynamic open-world game for up to 16 players that is accessed through “Grand Theft Auto 5,” though Rockstar considers “GTA 5” and “GTA Online” as separate games.
