Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk remains the richest person in the world.

As of Tuesday, his net worth is at $236.8 billion, according to a Forbes estimate.

Musk's staggering net worth can pay for 5,263,391 Tesla Model 3 cars, the base price of which is $44,990.

According to Tesla’s website, Model 3 "is built from the ground up as an electric vehicle—with ultra-high-strength steel and a low, solid center of gravity."

The Tesla Model 3 earned a perfect 5-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and scored the lowest probability of injury of any car ever evaluated by the U.S. New Car Assessment Program, according to a 2019 press release from the company.

Earlier this month, the sedan was also announced as a winner of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) most coveted award, the Top Safety Pick+, for the third straight year.

Tesla's Model 3 is the most searched electric vehicle in the world to date, according to data compiled by partcatalog.com.

Musk is among the biggest gainers since the COVID-19 pandemic began. He started off 2020 with a net worth of $26.6 billion, Forbes reported.

His wealth peaked in early November 2021 when it reached $340.4 billion as Tesla shares hit a record high.

Musk is currently $57.3 billion richer than Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who has a net worth of $179.5 billion, according to Forbes data.

Musk first dethroned Bezos, who had been the world's richest person since 2017, at the beginning of 2021. At the time, the Tesla CEO had an estimated net worth of about $188.5 billion — $1.5 billion more than Bezos.

Over the course of 2020, Musk reportedly gained more than $110 billion, setting the record for the biggest one-year gain of any billionaire Forbes has ever tracked. For the year 2021, Musk gained over $90 billion.

Musk could get a lot richer this 2022. If analysts are correct, Tesla “will report strong financial results this year that will net Musk billions of dollars in stock awards,” CNN reported.

In April 2012, Musk signed the Giving Pledge and made a commitment to give away the majority of his wealth to address some of society’s most pressing problems.
