Angelina Jolie is once again opening up about her divorce from Brad Pitt, almost one year after she filed her documents in court.

In an interview with New York Times, Jolie admitted that the divorce has been very difficult and painful for her. “None of it’s easy… And I just want my family healthy,” she said. When asked how her six children have been, Jolie said, “They’re getting better.”

During an interview with People, which is part of the publication’s Sept. 25 issue, Jolie also said a similar thing. “I’ve had my ups and downs. I guess I’m a little bit stronger,” she said.

The “First They Killed My Father” director also acknowledged the fact that a lot of fans and critics did not appreciate her decision to end her two-year marriage to Pitt. “I never expect to be the one that everybody understands or likes. And that’s OK, because I know who I am, and the kids know who I am,” she said.

Last year, Jolie and her children, Maddox, 16, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11, Vivienne, 9 and Knox, 9, moved into another home in Los Angeles after she announced her divorce from the award-winning actor. According to Jolie, it took her some time to realize that they also need a new base. “There was going to have to be another base regardless of everything. That there was going to have to be a home. Another home,” she said.

When they finally moved into the home that was previously owned by filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, Jolie sought the help of her children to design their place. “It’s happy. Happy and light, and we needed that,” she said.

Meanwhile, Jolie also worked with her two children in her film, “First They Killed My Father.” Maddox served as an executive producer for the project, and Pax worked as an on-set photographer. Jolie is pleased with how far her relationship with her children has come.

“They really help me so much. We’re really such a unit. They’re the best friends I’ve ever had. Nobody in my life has ever stood by me more,” she said.

In other news, there are rumors that Jolie already called off her divorce from Pitt. However, the actress has not confirmed these reports.
