Miranda Lambert has opened up about her life with husband Brendan McLoughlin and the blended family that they share. While Lambert doesn’t have any children of her own, she is happy to take on the role of stepmom to McLoughlin’s son just as long as he accepts her family of dogs.

“[Brendan’s] a great guy and, bless his heart, he didn’t have any dogs or any animals at all when he came into this relationship, so he inherited a whole barn full,” Lambert told Extra. “I was like, ‘Hey, I got the dogs, you got the kid, we can mix and mingle.'”

But Lambert was quick to point out that her motherly instincts have kicked in with McLoughlin’s seven-month-old son from a previous relationship.

“I’m loving that whole phase, and I’ve raised a million dogs, so I feel like I’ve got that part of my womanly/motherly thing is full, so this is a whole new journey,” Lambert said. “It’s great… My stepson is amazing.”

Lambert and McLoughlin also have the challenge of splitting time between New York and Tennessee homes. McLoughlin is an NYPD officer and Lambert’s lives in the latter.

For Lambert, however, it is no issue as she told the news outlet, “We have the best of both worlds. We spend time in New York, we get to see our adorable nugget, then we get to come back to the farm and have the quiet life. I’m enjoying the balance.”

Rumors about Lambert, 35, and McLoughlin, 27, divorcing surfaced as of recently, which the country singer’s rep was quick to shoot down, telling People, is “is completely made up. Not one iota is true. They are happy and together!”

Lambert and McLoughlin met in November when she was performing on “Good Morning America” as he was assigned to the South Midtown Precinct, including Times Square, where the performance was being held, People reported.

The couple married in January in a secret ceremony and have been kept their relationship private, rarely making appearances or being photographed. The newly married pair stepped out together for the first time in April at the 2019 ACM Awards. Lambert was previously married to Blake Shelton.
