The death of Wes Gibbons (Alfred Enoch) from “How to Get Away With Murder” really tore fans’ hearts, not to mention the hearts of his friends and colleagues. But fans better prepare themselves for more heartache this Season 4 since executive producer Pete Nowalk said the show is about to deliver more heartache.

“As far as you know, it didn’t happen in the premiere. You didn’t see a murder, but anything could’ve happened in that flash forward,” Nowalk told Entertainment Weekly. “There will be more bloodshed and tragedy.”

Could he be talking about the death of Laurel Castillo’s (Karla Souza) missing baby? In the flash forward, Laurel was crying as she questioned, “Where’s the baby?” Nobody could answer her question, or nobody dared answer her question - is it because the baby is dead?

If the baby passed away months before its due date, it would be a terrible blow for Laurel because keeping the baby was her redemption arc. “Everything Laurel does is because of that baby being the way of her redemption. So, it gives it a lot more weight,” Souza told E! News.

Her former professor and mentor, Annalise Keating (Viola Davis), was noticeably missing during that flash forward. But it’s about time she step in and help Laurel, because doing so will also help clear her troubled past.

“Laurel’s decision to keep the baby was also based on her relationship with Annalise. She knew Annaise had lost a baby and she knew that this was sort of both of their ways to have a second chance,” said Souza.

Sadly, it would take some time and effort to convince Annalise that they need to get to the bottom of Wes’ murder. “Wes was the heart of the show, and now he’s dead. I think someone has to work to still solve his murder, because it's unsolved. Annalise feels like that’s just what they have to live with, but I don’t think Laurel wants to give up on that answer yet,” Nowalk told Variety.

“How to Get Away with Murder” Season 4 airs every Thursday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
