Americans are now eligible to order free at-home COVID tests from the USPS’ website under the Biden Administration’s purchase of 500 million tests last month to help with the recent Omicron surge.

The tests can be ordered online at www.covidtests.gov, where contact and shipping information will need to be provided.

The site went live on Tuesday, a day earlier than the promised Wednesday release date.

Each home is eligible for four free at-home rapid antigen COVID-19 tests from the site with a limit of one order per household.

The tests will typically ship in seven to 12 days, with orders starting to ship in late January.

A credit card or debit card is not required for ordering the tests, and there are no shipping charges.

All orders will go through the USPS, and tests will be available to those that live in the U.S. and its territories.

It is recommended that the COVID tests be ordered now so that consumers have them in case a possible COVID infection arises.

If a COVID test is needed now, other testing resources are recommended due to the wait time of mailing the free at-home tests. See these free testing locations in your area.
