KEY POINTS

  • Player "UnNameD" has beaten "GTA 5" without taking any damage
  • His run took over nine hours to complete
  • The player completed the no-damage run after 48 attempts

A new record has been set in the “Grand Theft Auto V” community, but instead of competing with the world’s fastest completion time or the most insane car stunt ever made, one player has actually finished the entirety of “GTA 5’s” main campaign without taking a single hit.

After eight years since the game’s release, one player has finally finished “GTA 5’s” long and arduous campaign without taking any damage or getting hit, PC Gamer reported. Player “UnNameD” was able to accomplish this feat after a total of 48 attempts, with each run forcing him back to the very beginning of the game.

This is no small feat since “GTA 5” isn’t exactly a cakewalk. Unlike the cold and calculating brutality of games like “Dark Souls,” the combat in “GTA 5” is fast, frantic and very chaotic. Bullets tend to fly everywhere once trouble brews in Los Santos, and managing to walk away from a firefight without getting scraped by a stray bullet requires plenty of skill and just the right amount of luck.

UnNameD played a modified version of the game that reduced his maximum health to just 1 HP. This meant that taking any form of damage, whether it be from an attack or a random road accident, would immediately end his run.

Throughout his entire run, UnNameD used specialized tactics and strategies to help him survive every combat encounter in the game, including the most difficult of “GTA 5’s” unavoidable gunfights.

The sheer length of the “GTA 5” main story campaign meant players would have to spend roughly 30 hours of playtime to finish every story mission. However, UnNameD was able to complete the entire game in just nine hours. The current speedrun record is held by a player named “szau,” which sits at five hours, 51 minutes and 44 seconds, according to Speedrun.

Finishing the game four hours short of the world record without taking any damage at all is certainly an impressive feat. Other players have been trying to finish “GTA 5” with the “one-hit KO” challenge, but so far, UnNameD is the only one to succeed.
