Kate Middleton is already preparing for her future role as Queen Consort.

A number are looking forward to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s reign. However, it might still take a decade or more because Prince William is only second-in-line to the throne.

Prince Charles will reign after Queen Elizabeth II. However, both Prince William and Middleton are already preparing for their future roles.

“Kate’s been taking on new responsibilities little by little over the last few years, so it won’t be a shock when the time comes,” royal expert Rebecca Long told Us Weekly.

“William and Kate are the favourite royals to take the crown in many generations, so the people of the U.K. are very excited about it.”

Middleton just received a new patronage from Queen Elizabeth II. On Tuesday, the palace named the Duchess of Cambridge the new patron of the Royal Photographic Society, a position that the Queen had held for the organization since 1952, Vanity Fair reported.

Before the Queen, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert served as the society’s royal patrons starting in 1853, when it was founded.

Aside from taking on more royal responsibilities, Middleton supports the Queen by being present at high profile royal events such as the Garden Party at Buckingham Palace and at the Queen’s official birthday at Trooping the Colour.

Last month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s photo at the Garden Party made headlines because it gave a “dance musical” vibe.

In related news, Middleton is reportedly making a deliberate effort to honor her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, with her fashion. Experts noticed how the Duchess of Cambridge dress like the Princess of Wales especially when she left the hospital after Prince George and Prince Louis’ births.

According to royal expert Erin Hill, Middleton had started giving nods to Princess Diana shortly after her engagement to Prince William was announced. She added that Middleton’s blue engagement dress was also a tribute to Princess Diana.

Middleton is deemed to be a “slow but steady integrator” in the royal family. She has a warm relationship with her in-laws, including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
