There is no denying that Kate Middleton is a worldwide style icon. Where she got that style from, on the other hand, is debatable, although, lately, she seems to have gotten the inspiration for her looks from Princess Anne.

The mother of three seemed to be channeling Anne with her recent use of "seventies silhouettes with long bell sleeves and high necklines," which was a "signature look" of the Princess Anne's during that same era, as reported by Express.

The British publication also noted that Kate's choice to wear trousers while on royal engagements is something that Princess Anne also did.

Princess Anne's style isn't the only royal that the Duchess of Cambridge has seemingly followed in the footsteps of. Her fashion choices have also been linked to Queen Elizabeth, which isn't a shock considering she will be the future Queen Consort someday. Stylist Melita Latham described the similarities when speaking with Express.

"Some ensembles, almost military in appearance, Kate’s wardrobe is certainly leaning towards that of her husband’s grandmother," Latham explained. "Even during recent royal engagements during the summer months, bare arms [are] replaced with lace and veil."

Aside from looking the part, Kate has also been getting ready for her future role by taking on more royal duties and putting in the time to research the causes she wants to support.

"She has found work that she’s really passionate about," a source shared of how Kate has been preparing to be Queen. "She spent a lot of time at the start of her royal life learning about social issues and challenges like addiction, homelessness, mental health. It became clear to her that one of the main causes of it all was things not going right in the early years, so she knows the potential advantages to doing things in this space. It’s about solving much bigger problems but doing it early."

The source added, "She has spent a lot of time with a lot of experts and professionals and has learned from them. She has also done an enormous amount of reading on her own."
