It's only been a few days since Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler's divorce was announced and things already seem to be getting messy.

At first, many fans suspected that the "Very Cavallari" couple were splitting due to cheating rumors, which Kristin addressed on her E! network show, however, that doesn't seem to be the case. The messiness began with Cutler filing for divorce first on April 21, a move which TMZ reported left Kristin "surprised" followed by claims that he was an "at home parent" and the "primary caretaker" for their three children -- Camden, 7, and Jaxon, 5, and Saylor, 4.

According to documents obtained by E! News, the 36-year-old former NFL quarterback's asked for joint custody of their kids, an even split of their marital assets, along with "reasonable attorney fees" and "general relief to which he may be entitled."

The Uncommon James owner filed her own petition for the dissolution of their marriage under the same grounds as Jay, "irreconcilable differences," but added "inappropriate marital conduct." And when it comes to their minor children, she is seeking to have primary custody with Jay awarded visitation rights.

News of Kristin and Jay's divorce came straight from the mother of three herself. On April 26, in a social media post, she wrote, "With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce."

"We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of," she continued. "This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family."

Fans of "Very Cavallari" had some insight into the couple's marital woes because it was touched upon during Seasons 2 and 3 of their reality show and, according to a source, it's these issues that have been going on for "a long time" that ultimately lead to them being "pulled apart."

"They hadn't spent much time together in recent months," the insider revealed. "Kristin and Jay are a lot different. She has so much on her plate, with her brands and with the show. Jay is not as interested in all of that. She's so passionate about her work and they couldn’t relate to each other as much. So it pulled them apart."
