The Huawei TalkBand B3 was released in 2016 and it seems the fitness tracker could be getting an upgrade soon. The TalkBand B5 has apparently leaked online and it is said to be the TalkBand B3’s successor since it sports a similar design.

The Huawei TalkBand B5 was revealed in a press render leaked by Evan Blass (@evleaks) on Twitter. The name might be confusing to some, but the B5 is actually the successor to the B3. The number “4” is bad luck in China, which is why Huawei decided to skip it for the next iteration of its fitness tracker.

The Huawei TalkBand B5 looks very similar to the B3. Like its predecessor, the B5’s display also doubles as a wireless Bluetooth earpiece that can be popped out of the watch band. This allows users to answer calls directly from their fitness tracker without having to worry about potential eavesdropping. When someone calls, users can just get the B5’s display module and use it as the Bluetooth earpiece.

The TalkBand B3 also has built-in fitness tracking features for several activities like running, walking, climbing and sleeping. It’s also capable of counting the steps and the amount of calories burned. Users are able to check their progress by pairing the B3 to their iOS or Android smartphone and using Huawei’s app. The TalkBand B3 is also IP67 water-resistant. It’s very likely that the TalkBand B5 will have all of the same features.

While the Huawei TalkBand B5 looks very similar to the B3, it actually has some internal upgrades and other new features, as pointed out by The Verge. The B3 is already two years old and it makes sense that its successor will have some improvements.

Unfortunately, no information on internal specs have been leaked just yet. The only thing that seems to be confirmed for now is that the Huawei TalkBand B5 will be available in at least two color options: gold with a leather strap and silver with a metal band. The display on the device might also be an OLED panel, which is the same type of display that’s on the TalkBand B1, B2 and B3, as pointed out by GSM Arena.

So, when will Huawei announce the TalkBand B5? Phone Arena speculates that it might debut next week, specifically on July 9. That is also the date seen on the leaked image of the device.
