World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) women’s tag team champions The IIconics and 4-time RAW women’s champion Sasha Banks have together put to rest most of the rumors surrounding the latter’s absence from WWE since WrestleMania 35 in April.

Banks has not been seen in any WWE event since WrestleMania, when she and tag team partner Bayley dropped the tag team titles to The IIconics – Billy Kay and Peyton Royce – and many speculated that the former RAW champion and Bayley threw a massive tantrum when they were informed of the planned title change.

The Boss ‘n’ Hug connection were the inaugural women’s tag team champion and were expected to be given an extended run across all the WWE brands but after a relatively short reign, they dropped the titles and supposedly it did not sit well with the duo, who threw a strop in the locker room and hotel prior to the event.

But The IIconics have put to rest those rumors making it clear that Banks and Bayley were extremely happy for the new champions. And they even showed when the quartet shared a picture backstage after the game.

“Immediately after the match we were all in tears, all crying,” Royce told the Express. “Just filled with emotion, we got pictures together which we then posted on our Instagram.”

“I mean, I know there’s all these rumors going around and we didn’t see anything. Everyone was super happy and excited for us,” she added. “The rumors to us is [that] we didn’t see anything that we’re hearing.”

Kay echoed her best friend and tag team partner’s comments and admitted that they had a special experience winning the tag team titles on the biggest stage. They pointed to the pictures of the four to understate the joy they shared after the match.

“Yeah, we don’t really pay attention to rumors or social media and all that kind of stuff in that aspect. “We had a great experience with them and it holds a really special place in our hearts. You can find them [pictures], we’re all embracing each other,” Kay said.

Moreover, the tantrum and loss of the tag team titles at WrestleMania 35 was also linked to Banks’ disappearance from WWE in the weeks that followed. It was suggested that she asked to quit the promotion because she was asked to lose the tag team titles and that speculation continued until this week when WWE’s Legit Boss reacted to a fan’s post that called her ungrateful.

However, reports continue to emerge that she has asked for her release from the company but WWE is not interested in letting her leave. Pro-wrestling journalist Tom Colohue said WWE is promising many things to Banks in order to make her return to the ring.
