Paul Pogba has vowed to help his young Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood realize his potential.

Greenwood, who made his first-team debut last season, has already netted 16 goals in just 42 games in the 2019-20 campaign and has been a key part of the current Man Utd squad that is fighting to secure a Champions League qualification for the next season.

He was among the goal scorers in Man Utd’s 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in their recent Premier League outing. Greenwood has been on fire since the Premier League’s return after a three-month break due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Man Utd have played six games since Premier League’s restart in June and Greenwood has started four of those matches. In the last six matches, Greenwood has scored five goals including his stunning brace against Bournemouth and his recent strike against the Villa Park team.

Among the players of age 21 or less in Europe's top five leagues., Greenwood, with 16 goals across all tournaments, has scored the most number of goals in the current season.

Apart from Greenwood, the likes of Pogba and Bruno Fernandes also found a place on Man Utd’s goal sheet against Aston Villa recently. Pogba, who has scored just one goal so far this season, hailed Greenwood saying that the 18-year-old forward can reach the peak of soccer and he will certainly help him in doing the same while they are together a part of the Old Trafford side.

"I enjoy seeing this kid in training and in the game. I will keep pushing him to be at the top. He has so much to do again. He can do even more than what he is doing right now," Pogba said in a post-match interview.

Earlier, former Man Utd forward Dimitar Berbatov, who also captained the Bulgaria national team, tipped Greenwood to take charge in soccer alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe after legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo retire.

Berbatov, who played for Man Utd between 2008 and 2012, also mentioned Greenwood reminded him of Ronaldo when the Portuguese player was in his teens.

Man Utd, who are aiming to finish in the top four in the Premier League, are currently placed fifth in the league table but are just a point behind fourth-placed Leicester City and trail third-placed Chelsea by only two points.
