Instagram Is Down, Logging Out Users And Failing to Update Feed

Instagram is down. The photo sharing app experienced technical issues Thursday afternoon that included not allowing users to log-in to their accounts via the mobile app as well as failing to refresh feeds.
Users of the social network, which is owned by Facebook Inc. and has over 300 million users, reported being logged out of their accounts on the app, without manually signing out, and then failing to be able to access their account again.
When attempting to sign back in, Instagram has an error message that reads: "Sorry, we couldn't connect to our login server. Please confirm you have an internet connection and try again in a moment."
The issue appears to have begun as early as 12:30 p.m. EDT. Singer Adrienne Bailon posted on microblogging site Twitter, asking her 589,000 followers if the social network was down.
Um is something wrong with @instagram?

Instagram acknowledged the issue shortly thereafter, posting a status update on Twitter at 12:35 p.m. EDT. The company did not explain why the app was not functioning properly.
We're currently experiencing an issue that may have caused some users to have trouble logging in. We’re working hard to fix it.
