Apple did a great job lowering the selling price of its lowest-end model iPhone this year. The iPhone 11, with a $700 selling price, sells for $50 less than its predecessor. This list price, coupled with better specs and attractive features, made it a big hit among many consumers in different locations.

Previous reports revealed that iPhone sales in China grew by 480 percent - with the iPhone 11 selling the most. Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also revealed that while the iPhone 11 Pro models are a big hit among U.S. consumers, the budget iPhone 11 still enjoys high demand among American consumers.

Apple’s winning move caused its rivals, most notably Samsung, to rethink its plans, MSPowerUser noted. In response to the iPhone 11’s low selling price, Samsung is now working on a more affordable Galaxy Note model.

A new Note model?

The Korean tech giant is currently working on a new device with model number SM-N770F, SamMobile noted. This device doesn’t seem to be what previous reports claimed to be the combination of the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series models. Instead, according to the all-things-Samsung site, this is a non-flagship model that will make the Galaxy Note accessible to more consumers.

The site noted that while the model number indicates that the device doesn’t fit into any of Samsung’s current lineups, it does fit into the same lineup that an affordable model from 2014 belongs to.

The 2014 handset in question, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, was a cheaper device that had the model number SM-N750F. The new model number, then, could mean that a cheaper Galaxy Note device is coming, even if it’s not exactly a successor to the Galaxy Note 3 Neo.

That said, the upcoming affordable Note model, which T3 calls the Galaxy Note 10e after the lower-cost Galaxy S10e, could have lower specs to its more expensive siblings. It might be a midrange smartphone with 128GB of storage and lower RAM compared to the Galaxy Note 10 and Note10+. Nevertheless, it is expected to feature the S Pen, which is what sets the Note apart from other Samsung flagships.
