President Donald Trump shocked everyone when he made a surprise Thanksgiving visit to U.S. troops and proclaimed peace talks with the Taliban have resumed. The visit came amid tensions between the POTUS and senior military officers after the dismissal of Navy Secretary Richard Spencer.

Many praised Melania Trump’s husband for his unannounced Thanksgiving trip to Afghanistan. In fact, even Ivanka Trump was pleased to see her father celebrating the holiday with the Armed Forces that she retweeted a clip of the President’s visit. “Thankful for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces! We are the land of the free because of the brave. God bless America!” the POTUS advisor posted on Twitter.

Ivanka’s retweet gained mixed reactions from netizens. Critics, as per usual, lambasted her and the Trump family. “Bone spurs. Nobody in your family is brave,” Sharin Stone wrote in the comment section. “Nicely said from a daughter who’s father is a draft dodger! Frank Altomare stated. “Sigh...If only ONE member of your family had actually been so brave....just one!!” Michael Zorn said.

There were also a few who claimed that the surprise visit was just a publicity or promotional stunt. “Sad part is that this was probably put in place for a promotional video and fundraising versus actually visiting the troops just because,” a fourth Twitter user said. “This was not an act he did for the troops. He did this for self promotion. Right away this video montage was tweeted by POTUS himself, about himself. It's disgusting that he is exploiting these soldiers overseas for his own personal promotion for reelection. Insincere!” another netizen wrote.

Amid the hate and criticisms, avid supporters of the Trump administration sent nothing but love for the President and his family. “Thank you for your unselfish service to our country as well! We notice how hard you and your husband work to MAGA! #Trump2020” Ginny Page stated. “Well said & we have man in the White House who genuinely respects & loves our best & brave hearts,” Parmeet K. Randhawa said.

Meanwhile, Ivanka Trump shared a sweet portrait of her three children – Arabella, Joseph and Theodore – on Thanksgiving. In the photo, Arabella donned a white dress while her brothers looked adorable in blue sweaters for the holiday. “From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!” the mom of three wrote in the caption.

A few minutes later, the First Daughter shared another photo of Theodore sporting some New York Giant’s memorabilia. “He brought his game face to Thanksgiving. Leftovers are for quitters!” Ivanka Trump captioned, hinting that the entire family had a successful Thanksgiving feast.
