One reason why Cathy was missing in Season 2 may have something to do with her job in America. The plot of the show was mostly about politics in Venezuela and the intelligence community, which would have made it difficult for the writers to connect Cathy into the story. This even led to Jack sleeping with another woman, but that relationship does not have any future.

A strong reason why Cathy should return is because she is important in Jack’s life in Tom Clancy’s novels, on which the TV series is based. According to The Wrap, Cathy gets married to the CIA analyst in the books and the two even have kids.

If Cathy doesn’t return in “Jack Ryan” Season 3, the producers may have to introduce a new character who can be the CIA’s long term partner. The possibility of Cathy not returning can be gauged by the fact that she was not even mentioned on the show in Season 2 while all the other main characters returned.

According to Screen Rant, the lack of romance for Ryan in Season 2 is one of the issues that TV series will have to fix. The show was also full of the CIA operative taking on more of a soldier’s role rather than working as the brains of an operation behind a desk, which is something he is known for.

The fans should expect some changes on the show because the showrunner has been changed again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vaun Wilmott will now helm the series. Wilmott has been a part of the series and worked under Paul Scheuring, and he has now taken the job as the showrunner after Scheuring’s exit.
