Jake Paul’s next fight is only a few months away, though the YouTube star’s opponent has yet to be determined.

The 25-year-old announced that he’ll return to the boxing ring on Aug. 13. One of the sport’s biggest draws, Paul might be able to entice a marquee name into accepting a super fight.

Mike Tyson and Paul have both publicly flirted with the possibility of a fight. On a recent episode of "Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson," the former heavyweight champion admitted that he might fight Paul in order to set the record for pay-per-view buys.

“Jake Paul, believe it or not, is more profitable than the champs. This guy probably brings about 80 million people to the table,” Tyson said.

The idea that Tyson and Paul could outsell the 2015 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, which generated a record 4.6 million PPV buys, seems highly unrealistic. The bout would, however, mean a massive payday for both Tyson and Paul.

Tyson, 55, returned to the ring for an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020. Tyson reportedly made $10 million for the eight-round draw. Paul was guaranteed a $1.5 million purse before earning a share of the PPV sales for his knockout of Tyronn Woodley on Dec. 18.

After defeating Woodley twice, it could make sense for Paul to fight another former UFC champion in a boxing match.

Conor McGregor, arguably the most recognizable mixed-martial arts fighter in the world, would potentially offer the biggest possible payday for Paul. McGregor, 33, lost in his professional boxing debut to Mayweather in August 2017 and not fought as a boxer since then. A stumbling block to a fight between McGregor and Paul might be the weight class, with Paul outweighing McGregor by about 30 pounds.

Paul and McGregor traded barbs Saturday on Twitter during the boxing match between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. McGregor’s one cross-sport fight against Mayweather generated over four million PPV buys.

Current UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and Paul have also gone back and forth on social media.

In five career fights, Paul has a perfect 5-0 record. Paul has yet to fight an established professional boxer.
